Burrow Hill Cider Farm

Depending on the season, you may see our friends at Burrow Hill Cider Farm harvesting, making cider, or distilling. Enjoy guided tours, tastings, or a stroll through the orchards, with plenty of tipples to sample among the 170-year-old vats in the cider house. Visit the farm daily from 9am–5pm to book a tour or tasting, or call 01460 240782.

Forde Abbey & Gardens

Forde Abbey is a popular destination for families, garden lovers and historians alike. Set within thirty acres of award-winning gardens, you'll find something of interest all year round, but it is particularly magical in February when the grounds are full with snowdrops.

Punkie Night

If you're visiting in autumn, Punkie night is a historic village tradition in Hinton St George, which is not to be missed. Children march around the village with a jack o'lantern singing spooky songs. Experience this wonderful Somerset tradition and warm up in the pub with a tipple or two afterwards.

Wassail

There are many great walks in our area from romantic walks around our historic village to hikes for those slightly more advanced. You can click on the link to download our bespoke walk starting at our front door – so bring your wellies! We do have a small selection of wellies available to borrow if you forget yours.
Art
Somerset holds some of the most prestigious artworks in the country. Head across to nearby Montacute House to explore Elizabethan collections or slightly further afield to the nearby village of Bruton to explore the contemporary collections of Hauser and Wirth.
History
For those with an interest in historic places and landmarks, there are plenty of local trips. The Jurassic Coast, famed for its rocks, fossils and landforms, is a short drive away. The Crewkerne and District Museum is just a five minutes drive from the pub, has a long and interesting history including its status as a Saxon royal Mint, its importance as a stopping place for travellers, and its prosperity based on the textile industry.
